Action for Boston Community Development, Inc. (ABCD)
- ABCD Fuel Assistance helps more than 15,000 low-income households in Boston, Brookline and Newton pay fuel bills during the heating season. This program can also provide assistance to client whose heat is included in their rent. Applications are taken from November through March at ABCD’s Central Office or at any of ABCD neighborhood sites. For more information call 617.357.6012.
Housing and Homelessness
- ABCD Housing Services staff are experts in all aspects of housing search and counseling, with specific expertise in immigration law. ABCD staff work at homeless shelters and community sites assisting low and moderate-income homeless and at-risk families and individuals, including the elderly, disabled and victims of domestic violence to prevent them from falling into homelessness or help them move into a home they can afford. ABCD also serves walk-in customers and responds to referrals of individuals and families who are doubled up with other families, facing eviction, behind in rent or utilities, or living in substandard housing.
