The Bakhita House is a Safe/Transition House located in the greater Boston area.  It offers hospitality and a safe, caring environment to women over 18 years of age who are probable victims of human trafficking. The women are referred by partner agencies and may stay from one night to a year. The house was founded and is largely funded by the LCWR- Leadership Conference of Women Religious in Boston. It is staffed by three live-in Catholic Sisters and several volunteers who provide emotional support, clothing, food, shelter and various services for the guests. In cooperation with various service providers, it provides individuals access to some combination of comprehensive services, including psychological, medical, legal, educational, life skills, vocational and translation/interpretation. The Bakhita Community creates an environment that assists guests to rebuild their lives in a community setting.
